Page 1 of 3 Optimum Pet Nutrition – A Pet Vitamin Supplement Solution for All SituationsToday’s commercially prepared diets are based on minimum pet nutrition guidelines. Recently, the National Academy of Sciences, National Research Council published a new set of guidelines entitled “Nutrient Requirements of Dogs and Cats.” This latest publication is an improvement in the resources available as it incorporates much of the latest pet nutrition research over the past two decades. The only problem is that manufacturers will not be using these guidelines anytime in the near future. Basically, what we are left with is a pet food industry that is self-regulating and resistant to approving anything new that might create competition and upset the bottom line of giant corporations. I have reviewed the new guidelines and find them to be a step in the right direction. Thus, I have incorporated these guidelines into my pet vitamin supplement, VetBalance. |
